Congratulations – you’re engaged! This is probably a time you have been looking forward to, preparing for and dreaming of for weeks, months or even years. It’s an incredibly joyous and happy time filled with love and congratulations. But with the thinking about the engagement and proposal, have you thought about what to do next? Do you know what to do once you’re engaged? That’s what we look at in this blog post.

  • Tell The World

You’ll be wanting to shout your exciting news from the rooftops but think about who you want to know first. Once they know, you can tell whoever you want. News spreads quickly so make sure the important people hear it from you first. The next step could be an engagement party. This is a great way to bring loved ones together and celebrate the exciting news. An engagement party can be a great idea if your wedding isn’t for another few years.

  • Get Planning

Sit down with your partner and think about what you want from your special day. Will it be a big or small service? Is it going to be religious or not? Where will it be and at what sort of venue? These are all things that will need to be thought about alongside your guest list and your budget. If you need help finding a venue or suppliers, call our wedding planners. We can support you every step of the way with what to do when you’re engaged and everything you need to know about weddings.

  • Save The Date

Once you have chosen the budget, the venue and the guest list, you need to get those Save The Date cards out. You will have chosen a date with the venue. If there are any special suppliers you desperately want, make sure they can do those dates too. Once that’s done, send out the Save The Date cards to your guests. This will ensure that they block out the date in their diary to make sure they can come. Again, this is something our wedding organisers can help with. We can send out the Save The date cards and record the responses too.

  • Think Wedding Theme

What does your wedding look like? Is it classic or modern? Will you have colours, or will the table plan match a hobby? Would you like your wedding to have a timeless appeal, or do you want to create something a little different that is personal to you. When you know this, you can start speaking to the right suppliers about your theme plans and goals. This is a lovely stage of the wedding planning where you start bringing the vision to life.

  • The Planning Timetable

Once you’re engaged there is a lot to do, but it doesn’t all need to be done at once. Why not sit down with our wedding planners to create a planning timetable. This can give you all the dates that the next stage of the wedding needs to be planned or booked by. There are 2 benefits to having a planning timetable. You will be able to stay organised, and you’ll know nothing has been missed.
